JaMur Zoysia is a Zoysia variety bred for toughness. It has some of the best drought tolerance among Zoysias, does well in full sun or moderate shade, and recovers well from damage (foot traffic, pets, children, etc.). It has compact, tightly packed growth and does not demand heavy inputs of water or fertilizer to look good.
Color: | Bluish-green shade, often quite striking under good light |
Texture: | Medium-to-fine textured (not ultra-fine, but softer than many coarse grasses), dense growth habit |
Growth Habit: | Spreads via stolons and rhizomes; compact turf that forms a tight sward |
Durability / Wear Resistance: | Excellent. JaMur recovers quickly from traffic and use |
Heat & Drought Tolerance: | Very good. One of the top among Zoysias for enduring dry spells without needing much water |
Shade Tolerance: | Good; it tolerates moderate shade, though full sun gives best results |
Other Resistance: | Good salt tolerance; low issues with disease, weeds, and insects when properly maintained |
Mowing:
Keep at about 2-3 inches height; mow every 5-7 days when growing actively.
Watering:
Fertilization:
Use a balanced fertilizer (such as "10-10-10") at about 10 pounds per 1,000 ft² in spring and again in mid to late summer. pH should be between 5.5 and 7.0.
Sunlight & Soil:
Best in full sun, but tolerates moderate shade. Prefers well-drained soil; avoid overly wet conditions. Good pH range as above.
Soil & Drainage:
Prefers well-drained soils; avoid prolonged saturation.
Weed / Disease / Pest Management:
Dense growth helps suppress weeds. Low disease/insect pressure reported. Fungicide such as Daconil may be used if issues arise.
If you want a lawn that looks good, survives drought & wear, and doesn’t demand constant watering or fertilizing, JaMur Zoysia is a strong candidate. Especially useful in warm climates with occasional shade and for homeowners who want durable, low-input lawns.
But if you expect very high traffic (sports fields, etc.) or have very shaded areas, you might want to compare with more aggressive or shade-tolerant grasses.
